Dr Caunhye came to talk to Reception. She explained how she checks children’s health when they come to her surgery, and showed us using her son as her patient. Dr Caunhye brought a variety of equipment for us all to use as trainee doctors, we loved this! We checked eyes, ears and throats, we took pulses and checked heart beats with stethoscopes! We even checked how much sugar was in a vial of pretend urine…..far too much as really it was apple juice! We also stuck plasters on invisible wounds, which at home time may have briefly alarmed a mummy or two! Thank you Dr Caunhye.
Mr Mundy also came to visit Reception. He is an orthopaedic surgeon and so he explained how he fixes bones. He brought a variety of model bones and replacement joints for us all to investigate. We shared our stories of broken bones and other operations and then we put on masks and head scarves, and were ready to operate!
