Year 4
STUDY VISIT TO THE LIVING RAINFOREST
When we went to the Living Rainforest we saw lots of plants. The most interesting plant was a Piture Plant. It likes to eat meat. It attracts its food with a sweet smelling but very sticky liquid around the outside of the plant. Yvonne, our guide, showed us vanilla pods, coco pods and their beans and banana plants.
There were four tortoises which were really cute. A big tortoise in a separate enclosure was trying to escape but, unfortunately, he didn’t succeed and fell over instead. We enjoyed watching the pigmy marmosets which were little monkeys who were the size of my hand. They were hard to spot because of their fantastic camouflaged bodies. Hiding in the bottom of the same cage we saw a yellow poisonous Dart Frog.
We also saw crocodiles, loads of amazing birds and snakes including a bright green snake called an Emerald Tree Boa. I had the most fantastic day.
