Hockey

Hockey is the main girl’s sport during the autumn term and the main sport for boys in Years 7 and 8 in the spring term.
The coaches for the girls and boys teams are very dedicated and knowledgeable,
teaching the pupils how to play the fast-paced, high-energy game it is today.

Facilities

Hockey training sessions and matches are played on our full size, floodlit Astro Turf, which can be
divided into two mini hockey-pitches and has a viewing area for spectators.

Matches

Girls in the Prep School will have regular hockey matches in the autumn term, these are mainly on Wednesday afternoons, with the occasional Saturday match from Year 5.

Our girls’ teams are very strong and get lots of match play. Every year our U11 and U13 teams compete in the National IAPS U11 and U13 tournaments and have reached the National Finals on several occasions at different age groups.

Girls also compete in the England Hockey In2Hockey tournaments. They also enjoy an annual residential tour in Year 8.

Hockey Achievements

Many girls also play for local clubs in Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and
Leicestershire and every year we have a number of players who represent their County Team.

Boys’ Hockey

Although boys are introduced to hockey from year 3 as part of their PE curriculum, they only play competitively in Years 7 and 8, because, they focus on football in years 3-6.

The 1st VII Hockey team annually entertain a touring St Olave’s side before competing at the U13 IAPS Tournament. Boys also compete in the England Hockey In2Hockey tournaments.
