Pre-Prep (4-7)

At Spratton Hall Pre-Prep, we believe that learning is all about discovery, excitement, embracing opportunities and, most importantly, fun!

The Pre-Prep Department

The Spratton Hall Pre-Prep Department is a self-contained, and purpose-built space full of fun, learning and exploration, that gently prepares children for entry to the Prep School.  Nestled at the heart of the school and consisting of three year groups, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, each class has its own teacher and at least one full-time teaching assistant.

A Warm Welcome to Pre-Prep

“Every day in Pre-Prep is about sparking curiosity, engaging and challenging young minds and central to all this is your child’s happiness.

I would love for you to come and visit us, so that you can see our vibrant Pre-Prep Department in action and be introduced to the wonderful staff, and the children, of whom we are so immensely proud.”

Mrs Fiona Sanchez
Head of Pre-Prep

Curriculum

We use the National Curriculum as a guide to inform our planning, amending and enhancing it where necessary, in order to best meet the children’s developing needs. Many of our children work beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum as we prepare them to enter the Prep School in Year 3.

Facilities

Pre-Prep has its own routines, playgrounds and classrooms, providing children with a feeling of comfort, security and the highest standards of pastoral care, whilst also benefitting from the excellent and extensive facilities shared with the senior school. This includes Music, Dance and performances in the Spratton Hall theatre, weekly sessions in Five Acres Forest School, and PE and Games in either the Sports Dome or Playing Fields.

Physical Education and Sport

In Pre-Prep P.E. is taught by specialist teachers with each child receiving two lessons a week. Physical Literacy introduces the fundamental movement skills which create the basis for all games, sports, dance and physical activity. The children also learn the importance of developing  a healthy lifestyle.

From Year 2 they start to practise the main school sports – hockey and netball for the girls, rugby and football for the boys, and cricket for both – ready for when they enter the Prep-School in Year 3 and start playing competitive sport.
