There are many annual highlights on the Pre-Prep Calendar to look forward to – the Christmas Nativity Plays, Grandparents’ Day and Sports Day being amongst our favourites.
In addition, the children in Pre-Prep look forward to a variety of exciting trips and in-school activities each term, to support and extend their learning within different areas of the curriculum.
Visits out of school, to historic sites, museums, wildlife parks, farms and theatres are carefully planned to complement each year group’s Science and Topic work. Venues include Holdenby House, Rockingham Castle, Warwick Castle, The Cotswold Wildlife Park, Ashby St Ledgers ‘Farm to Fork’ experience, Gallones Ice-cream Factory, Papa Cino’s Italian Restaurant, The Sealife Centre and the Stratford upon Avon Butterfly Farm.
The children also regularly benefit from a range of speakers, who visit different year groups to talk with knowledge, and enjoyment, about their chosen areas of expertise. The children have welcomed orthopaedic surgeons, dentists, a police helicopter navigator, a farmer, a nutritionist and an author into their classrooms and have thoroughly enjoyed opportunities to ask and answer questions, and explore the wonderful range of resources brought in for them to handle and investigate.
Pre-Prep Assemblies are also an exciting event which the children look forward to. Each term, each year group performs an assembly, based around their topic work, to a large invited audience of parents, friends and family. Performed in the Hunter Hall, these assemblies are alive with exciting songs, poems, paintings, and Drama activities, with every child having their own special part to say out loud.
