Shanaya and Henry in Year 8 took part in the Balloon Debate at Oundle School. 22 pupils took part each representing a very notable explorer. Shanaya was Ellen MacArthur and Henry was Amerigo Vespucci. Pupils had to persuade their audience that they should left on the balloon. After the first round when all the speeches had been completed, people cast their votes to decide which three were worthy of staying on the balloon. Ellen MacArthur, Ferdinand Magellan and Sir Ranulph Fiennes survived. The three then went head-to-head and the audience were allowed to ask two questions. The standard was superb and very insightful. Shanaya was awarded first place by the judges which was a tremendous achievement.
