FROM THE HEADMASTER

Year 2 Choir
What wonderful, deserved praise there was for our Year 2 Choir who performed at the Regional Music for Youth Festival in Northampton last weekend.  They did so brilliantly and were an absolute credit to the school.  The oral feedback and the written feedback we have received since is really rather wonderful.  Well done to them all!

Maidwell Chase
Today sees the culmination of the Cross-Country season for our pupils as they head off for what will be, sadly, the last ever Maidwell Chase event.  Our Cross-Country team have had a very successful season indeed and I am sure they will be wanting to finish on a high.  Good luck to them all and well done on such a super season.

Beauty and the Beast
The excitement is definitely building to a crescendo here at school for the big production next week when the cast will be telling the ‘tale as old as time’.  I wish everyone involved all the very best – I am sure it will be superb!  There are three or four tickets left for each evening (and I do mean three or four), if anybody has not yet booked, or if any families of the cast would like an extra ticket.

Forthcoming Events
With just a week to go before the end of term, as well as the play there are a number of events to look forward to, not least the rather special, now annual, Easter Egg Hunt taking place tomorrow, where we will be welcoming many families with young children to the school to enjoy a stroll around the fields.  Then, a number of our Year 8 girls are heading to watch the Loughborough Lightning Superleague netball match and, next week, we also have the Easter Church Services on Friday with Years 6, 7 and 8 at 8.45am, followed by Years 3, 4 and 5 service at 9.10am, as always, in St Andrew’s Church.  I do hope many of you are able to attend.

Thank you

‘Rocking our Socks’ for World Down Syndrome Day
From sporty to sparkly, jazzy to neon, a rainbow of colourful legs are on parade today as staff and children Rock Their Socks for World Down Syndrome Day. All funds raised will support the Northamptonshire Down Syndrome Group, which relies entirely on donations. Thank you for your support—it’s wonderful to know we’re making a difference!

Year 2 Church Visit
Ripples of excitement could be felt in Year 2 on Monday.  Dressed up for the occasion, the children headed off to St. Andrew’s church in Spratton to learn more about a Christian wedding ceremony.  Once inside, the children met Rev. Twigg and marvelled at all the church features that they had been learning about in class.  Re-enacting a wedding ceremony, complete with music, flowers, bridesmaids, and of course, a happy couple, brought smiles to everyone’s faces – as did the sparkling lemonade fizz and beautifully iced wedding cake that the children all enjoyed at the wedding reception on their return to school!

Year 1 – In Search of a Bog Baby!
Whilst many little ones search for ladybirds and caterpillars in the spring sunshine, Year 1 is on the lookout for a Bog Baby! About the size of a frog—but round and blue—with boggly eyes and a spiky tail, the Bog Baby loves nothing more than wallowing in magical ponds, swimming on its back, and sucking its toes. The children in 1S had a fantastic time crafting shape poems about this enchanting, imaginary creature. Using wonderfully descriptive adjectives, alliteration, and similes, they created vivid and imaginative poems inspired by the story.

Year 2 Choir Sing Out!
Teamwork really made the dream work on Saturday, when our Year 2 Choir took to the stage at the Regional Festival of Music. By far the youngest participants in the event, the children stepped courageously onto the stage and sang their hearts out in a set of four dynamic songs. They were utterly brilliant! Mrs King and I were fit to burst with pride when the mentors delivered their glowing feedback – “Your qualities and skills shone through in an impressive performance, delivered with charm and confidence.”  A tremendous well done to all the children involved and a big thank you to the parents, friends and family members who came to support us – even now we can’t stop smiling!

Pre-Prep Thankfulness Assembly – Thursday 27th March, 3pm
Finally, you may have detected a heart-warming song line or two being practised at bath time or in the car on the journey to school—our children are busily preparing for next week’s Thankfulness Assembly, ahead of Mothering Sunday. Through songs and poems, this uplifting event is their way of saying thank you for the love, care, and happiness shared by the special grown-ups in their lives. There is enough space in the Hunter Hall for each family to have two seats – the event will also be live streamed, so that wider family and friends can enjoy the occasion too.  We look forward to welcoming you!
