The Year 5 Drama Evening ‘Reflections of War’ was a selection of scenes and songs about World War 1 and 2. The children learnt a great deal from working on the themes of trench warfare, the blitz, evacuation and the ‘Home Front’. The main messages were to reflect on the sacrifice and suffering people had to undergo and to make sure that we never have to experience those dark days again. There was also a great deal of humour and hope in the pieces, as well as respect and remembrance. This year’s performance had to be filmed, meaning that there was no live audience. Even under these difficult circumstances, Year 5 performed excellently, managing to portray the emotion in a controlled and entertaining way. Some of the scenes were moving, while others were very funny. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to make it a memorable performance.
