Exam Revision
One of the key areas covered by the lessons is effective exam revision. The pupils are provided with a range of techniques they can employ for revision, based on their learning styles and preferences. We also discuss some of the hidden exam technique skills, such as proof-reading, effective checking, spotting errors, and time management, to help the pupils have more robust techniques for performing to the best of their abilities in exams.
Aims of Lifelong Learning
- To help pupils understand themselves better as learners so they can make good choices about how to learn most effectively for themselves, as well as how to revise effectively and prepare for exams, throughout their time in school, and beyond.
- To equip pupils with transferable skills that can be used in all subjects and a recognition that much of what they learn in each subject in school can be applied to many other areas of life.
- To prepare pupils for the transition to Year 7 and 8, and the Common Entrance course, where the expectation on them is to become more independent learners who are well-organised and in charge of their learning.
- To understand how Democracy around the world and the British electoral system works, what voting is, and why it is important.
- To understand how simple banking systems work and how to to look after money sensibly by avoiding debt and learning how to budget.
Stronger Together
We encourage the pupils to discuss ideas and share their experiences, so they can all learn from each other and develop a stronger understanding of how to work better by themselves, as well as encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
