Sport at Spratton Hall
Sport is a big and important part of life at Spratton Hall. All pupils take part in PE and Games with multiple sessions every week with the focus on enjoyment and development. All pupils have the opportunity to regularly represent their school in matches, with many going on to represent their county or even their country in their chosen sport.

Sport by Term
We regularly review our sport offering, but currently the sports for boys and girls are as follows:
Girls | Boys | |
Autumn | Hockey & Cross Country | Rugby & Cross Country |
Spring | Netball & Cross Country | Hockey (Years 7&8), Football (Years 2-6) & Cross Country |
Summer | Cricket & Athletics | Cricket & Athletics |
Rugby is the main autumn sport for boys in the Prep School during the autumn term. In 2021 we came second overall in the School Sports All Comers League.
Cricket is our main summer sport and is played in mixed teams by all children in the Prep School. For three years running we have been recognised as one of the top 50 cricketing prep schools.
Matches
Year 3 and 4 matches are on a Tuesday and Thursday whereas Year 5 and above play on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
We play the majority of the local prep and independent schools and can have up to 20 teams playing home and away on a single afternoon.
We use SOCs to keep parents updated about fixtures and teams.
House Matches
In addition to matches against other schools, every term the pupils have house matches by year group in the main sports of the term. They are a brilliant way for the children to develop their skills, learn teamwork and enjoy some friendly competition against their peers, with the opportunity to earn house points.
Tournaments and Tours
Each term, we regularly take part in, and host tournaments for multiple schools. Additionally, in Year 8 there are residential hockey and rugby tours for the girls and boys.
Coaching
There is expert coaching available in all sports we play for both girls and boys. The teams will also visit local senior schools for training days and have visits from professional county players to hone their skills and discover more about local clubs.
