FROM THE HEADMASTER

Oliver!
What a show! Enormous congratulations to the cast and crew for this year’s major production. It was an absolute triumph, thoroughly enjoyed by all who were lucky enough to attend. There were so many outstanding performances with truly wonderful singing but I must particularly congratulate the leads who I thought were absolutely brilliant, delivering performances well beyond their years.
Huge thanks and much credit goes to Mrs King, Miss Govier and Mr Williams for their direction and their many months of hard work towards the show. How this will be topped next year, I really don’t know!

Year 8 Ski Trip
Year 8 will be very excited ahead of their ski trip tomorrow to Pila in Italy. The snow conditions look promising and I am sure they will have a wonderful time both on and off the slopes.
On this subject, I am sad to report that this will be Mrs Williams’ final time of running the Spratton ski trip, which she has done for many, many years. She has led and organised every trip meticulously and brilliantly and so, on behalf of all of this year’s group and all the previous pupils who have attended, thank you so much to Mrs Williams. She will be handing over the reins to Mr White, who will be attending this year’s trip, and who is very much looking forward to taking over.
End of Term
It only remains for me to say a big well done to the children for all they have achieved this term in what has been, as always, a very busy term. I wish you all a very happy Easter and, for those travelling, I wish you safe journeys. I look forward to seeing the children return on Tuesday 21st April.
Thank you.

PRE-PREP
A flurry of Easter magic has rippled through the Pre-Prep classrooms this week, as the children have joyfully immersed themselves in an array of creative arts and crafts. Splodges of cheerful, chick-yellow paint have found their way onto hands, sleeves, tables— just about every surface in sight. With many cute bunny pictures taking shape too, it has really felt like Spring has sprung, both inside and out!
Toys Galore in the Reception Children’s Assembly!
On Thursday afternoon, Reception entertained a delighted audience with a wonderful toy themed assembly. Mustering their biggest voices and brightest smiles, the children delighted everyone with demonstrations of spinning tops, marble runs and remote control cars, all very skilfully operated.
The children also showcased their growing musical skills with a lively re-telling of The Three Little Pigs. Using percussion instruments, the children confidently demonstrated their understanding of how they could change sounds through the use of dynamics and timbre. We loved the gripping suspense that built when the Big Bad Wolf came along!
Year 1 Get Measuring
Over the last couple of weeks, Year 1 have been busy developing their understanding of weight, capacity and volume. The children were challenged to measure and compare the amount of liquid in a range of containers, exploring how different shapes and sizes could hold varying volumes. For the children in 1W, reading scales accurately and exploring volumes in millimetres, added further to their repertoire of measuring skills, as it followed on from their biscuit baking activity last week, where they weighed all their ingredients in grams. The result? A growing understanding of measures and some delicious Spring Shortbread biscuits to munch on too!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Finally, I would like to wish everyone a relaxing and fun-filled Easter break. Additional reading books have been popped into book bags and ten minute weekly challenges have been set on Numbots, Phonics and Spelling Shed, to help keep the children’s number and spelling skills gently ticking over.
We look forward to hearing all about the children’s holiday adventures when they return, rested and full of enthusiasm, ready for an exciting and busy final term.
