Spratton Hall has been recognised by the Cricketer Magazine in 2019, 2020 and 2021,
as one of the top cricketing prep schools in the country!
Cricket for All
Our philosophy is ‘cricket for all’ and since 2018, Cricket has been the main summer sport for both boys and girls at Spratton Hall. The girls have enthusiastically taken to playing cricket and those that were happy to play hard ball cricket, took up places in the ‘Boys’ cricket teams to create a number of mixed teams from summer 2021. However, boys and girls can still play softball cricket if this is what they would prefer. Summer of 2022, there was a new era for cricket at Spratton Hall as all boys and girls played together from Years 2–8. A development that will benefit all the pupils.
Coaches
We have many experienced cricket coaches who teach boys and girls from age six upwards, to ensure that all children get the chance to have first-class coaching. As cricket is the main sport played in the summer term, staff make a tremendous effort to get as many fixtures as possible into the calendar, with teams playing matches across three afternoons every week. There is passion and enthusiasm at every level, from pupils, staff and our supporters alike.
Facilities
Our facilities and grounds are of such a high standard that they are used by Junior County team and our own Spratton Hall Stags Staff team for some matches and have been used to run Summer camps. We have the following available to use at all times:
- 8 Astro Nets
- 3 Grass Nets
- 10 Grass Wickets
- 6 Astro Wickets
Clubs
Many of our pupils play for local clubs including Overstone, Old Northamptonians, Brixworth, East Haddon and Nether Heyford.
County
We also have both boys and girls representing Northamptonshire and Leicestershire County Cricket.
Tours
The children compete in a few cricket festivals and tournaments across the age groups. Spratton Hall has enjoyed touring Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Yorkshire, and has hosted touring teams.
